I recently went back to using xterm as my default terminal since in Gnome-Terminal, Alt-V gets sent to the menu, and not to emacs when it is running. In Xterm, the Alt key did not work immediately; it gave me wierd characters. This post shows me how to fix the problem (put in ~/.Xresources instead). Also, copy and paste does not work intuitively by default. This post shows a fix. Both involves tweaking the options in ~/.Xresources.
